Nosy neighbors can be annoying and difficult to deal with.
This story is about a child-free woman who spends her day cleaning the house and watching TV.
One afternoon, she decided to watch a horror film with her curtains open, so little did she know that a child from next door was watching with her through their windows.
The next thing she knew, the mother of the child was confronting her.

AITA for not changing what I’m watching or closing the curtains?
I live in a small area. I wouldn’t say its a lowerclass area, but I wouldn’t say upperclass either.
It’s just on the cozy side, and it’s a mix of elderly and kids and a handful of childfree young adults like myself and partner.
I work 5 days a week, from 9 to 5. On my days off, I like to relax and catch up with cleaning and my shows.
What any child-free person does when not socialising.
This woman watched American Horror Story one afternoon.
So the other day, after I finshed cleaning up, I sat down with my cuppa to watch American Horror Story.
And as we all know, that is not a show for kids.
I was watching it in the afternoon when the sun was still up and shining.
Someone’s kid decided they wanted to watch along with me.
I have no clue what they saw, but it was enough to make them mention it to their parents.
The kid’s mom confronted her about letting her child watch the horror film.
Then, the mum has come to my door shouting at me to either shut my curtains during the day or watch a kid-friendly show.
I’d like to mention my TV isn’t fully visible from the window as the TV is on the wall next to the window.
So you’d have to really be looking in to even just see half to 3 quaters of the TV.
I don’t want to shut the curtains as I suffer with depression and like to have natural light in the room as it makes me feel better.
I hate when curtains are pulled during the day.
She thinks it’s not her responsibility to adapt to other people’s preferences.
I also feel I shouldn’t have to adapt to what someone else wants in my own home when I don’t even know them.
And their kids decided to be nosey.
Like can’t they teach their kid not to be nosey or suffer the consenquences of what they may see?
My partner just says to suck it up to keep the peace and do as they ask.
As we wouldn’t want our future kids seeing that kind of stuff either.
Now, she’s wondering if she was in the wrong.
Like yeah, I wouldn’t but if they were being nosey in someone’s house, I’d deal with my kid’s behavior first.
Then tell them it’s okay and explain it if they have questions to let them know if what they saw is okay to do in real life.
AITA for not wanting to change what I do, when and how for people I don’t even know the names of?
Wow! That sounds like a petty issue to deal with a neighbor.
Let’s see what others have to say about this story.
Yes, indeed!

Exactly, right?

Whoa! Apparently, it’s a crime.

This one has a valid point.

Looks like everyone is siding with OP.

How about you? Who do you think is in the wrong here?
Just because your neighbors don’t like what you watch doesn’t mean you have to change the channel.
