Living with a stepparent involves a major adjustment in getting along with them.
This story is about a teenager who lives with her mother and stepfather, whom she didn’t really get along with.
In one incident in the kitchen, she forgot to say “Excuse me” while trying to get something from the cabinet.
So he punished her with physical exercise that made her body sore.
Ugh! Did she really deserve that from him? Read the full story below.
AITAH for yelling at my step dad?
I (16F) live with my mother and stepdad who we’re gonna call Ace.
Ace and I don’t have a good relationship at all because of some past mistakes I’ve made.
So about 2 weeks ago, I was making some ramen for lunch.
And he opened a cabinet that I just so happened to need to go in, so I reach my hand in and grab what I needed.
This teenager was told by her stepdad to do some push-ups.
Turns out, I got the wrong thing so I waited for Ace to get what he needed and then put my thing back to get what I needed.
It turns out he also got the wrong thing, so once I get what I need, he just looks at me like he hates me.
He gets his damn cup and then slams the cabinet. Whatever, I just brush it off and move on.
So I’m in the middle of making my ranem and he says:
“(My name), come do push-ups until I tell you to stop.”
She took a break, but he told her to continue.
I go over to the living room and do them. Keep in mind I have like 0 strength at all like I do not work out at all.
So after about 10 push ups, I take a break, and he goes, “I didn’t tell you to stop,” so I keep going.
Then, I take another break because, bro, I was literally shaking at this point.
And again, he says “I didn’t tell you to stop,” so I sit up and say, “I cant do anymore.”
He then replies with, “I don’t care, I didn’t tell you to stop. Keep going.”
She yelled at him because she couldn’t take it anymore.
So now, this is when I yell, “I told you I can’t do any more! It physically hurts! I can’t do it anymore!”
He says, “Oh, so now you’re yelling at me? Now, you’re really gonna keep going.”
So I just shut up and kept going it. I was crying and my entire body was shaking, and it was so hard to breath.
So finally, he told me I could stop and I just ran upstairs and my arms were so sore.
I didn’t even eat because I could barely move my arms.
He accused her of being disrespectful and continued to punish her physically.
He then said that the reason why I was doing push-ups was because I didn’t say excuse me when I was reaching in the cabinet.
He said it was disrespectful.
I got grounded for 2 weeks and had to do physical punishments on the weekends.
Like running long distances, lots of push ups and sit ups, and things like that.
Sounds like there is an evil stepfather in that house.

This one’s being honest.

Here’s a valid thought.

This makes sense.

Run, darling, run!

Teaching a lesson is different from physically abusing a teenager.
